Sometimes we all need a laugh...

Who can resist this???

There are some sounds in this world that are just meant to make you feel good, this has to be one of them!

Laughing during Lent

Are we allowed to laugh and feel joy during Lent? From all I have seen in the Bible, we most certainly can! The way I read Proverbs 17:22, "A merry heart is a good medicine; but a broken spirit dries up the bones", God is telling us that laughter has the power to heal! And It heals in a way nothing else can.

We have all read articles that show the impact of stress and depression on our lives. The suffering and illness provoked by these and similar issues can be debilitating. But researchers use all manner of tests to measure the impact of a laughter in our day to day living.

Think of what happens when you're handed a soft cuddly puppy or watch a beautiful and serene sundown, or view movie clips from a drama or a comedy...these will all affect (many times very quickly) our outlook and our attitude. Laughter can actually increase our blood flow.

If it can do that to our bodies, think of what it can do to our spirits!!

Just because it's Monday, again!

Perhaps this is a little off-color but I felt the need to pass it along for a chuckle...it is Monday after all!
This is an ode to all the e-mails we receive from our "friends"...

As we enter 2012, I want to thank you all for your educational e-mails over the past year. I am totally messed up now and have little chance of recovery:  I can no longer open a bathroom door without using a paper towel, nor let the waitress put lemon slices in my ice water without worrying about the bacteria on the lemon peel. I cannot sit down on a hotel bedspread because I can only imagine what has happened on it since it was last washed. I have trouble shaking hands with someone who has been driving because the number one pastime while driving alone is picking one's nose. Eating a little snack sends me on a guilt trip because I can only imagine how many gallons of trans fats or pounds of gluten or insect parts I have consumed over the years. I can't touch any woman's handbag for fear she has placed it on the floor of a public toilet.
I must also send my special thanks for the email about rat poo in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing.  Also, I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I cannot have a drink in a bar because for fear I'll wake up in a bathtub full of ice with my kidneys gone. I can't eat at KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes, feet or feathers (someone saw pictures!).  I can't use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day. Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an e-mail to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.  Because of your concern, I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains . I no longer buy gasoline without taking someone along to watch the car, so a serial killer doesn't crawl in my back seat when I'm filling up and I no longer use Cling Wrap in the microwave because it causes seven different types of cancer.

Thanks for letting me know that I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face, disfiguring me for life . I no longer go to the movies because I could be pricked with a needle infected with a serious disease when I sit down. Because of your information, I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a huge phone bill with calls to four or five other countries . Thanks to you,  I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big black snake could be lurking under the seat and cause me instant death when it bites me. Because of your advice,  I can't ever pick up a dime dropped in the parking lot because it was probably placed there by a sex molester waiting to grab me as I bend over. It is a shame but I can no longer garden because I'm afraid I'll get bitten by the Violin Spider and my hand will fall off.

Please understand that if you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 7 minutes, a large bird will land on your head at 5:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon, and the fleas from 120 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's best friend's beautician .

One last note, a scientist performed a lengthy study and has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read their e-mails with their hand on the mouse. Don't bother taking it off now, it's too late. P. S. I now keep my toothbrush in the living room, because I was told by e-mail that water splashes over 6 ft. out of the toilet. Remember to have yourself and very good day and a most Happy New Year (and try not to be so paranoid)!

Laughter

From The Telegraph

Laughter is contagious and thankfully there is no cure...

It's unclear what the joke that sparked the mass hysterics was, but mobile phone footage uploaded to the video sharing site has caught the imagination of many online viewers.
The origin of the laughter appears to a blonde woman sniggering at something on her phone. She is soon joined in her mirth by most of the other passengers.
The video, posted by a user called amerking has been viewed more than 1 million times in a week.

First time on a web cam

No, this is not me but I found it too funny not to post...her laugh is infectious! Watch it all the way through...in the last minute or so she discovers clip art...and changes into several different characters!

Just a laugh for Wednesday!

Family Circus

Bill Keane, the creator of the cartoon series "Family Circus" has passed away. Family Circus was always a favorite of mine...growing up, I couldn't wait for Dad to finish with the paper so I could see it...

Since February of 1960, his readers have stayed true and faithful:
"It's reassuring, I think, to the American public to see the same family," he said.
Although Keane kept the strip current with references to pop culture movies and songs, the context of his comic was timeless. The ghost-like "Ida Know" and "Not Me" who deferred blame for household accidents were staples of the strip. The family's pets were dogs Barfy and Sam, and the cat, Kittycat.

"We are, in the comics, the last frontier of good, wholesome family humor and entertainment," Keane said. "On radio and television, magazines and the movies, you can't tell what you're going to get. When you look at the comic page, you can usually depend on something acceptable by the entire family."

Fair Time

All this week the local county Fair has been in full swing...except for the fact that Tropical Storm Lee (I think that's it's name) has been parked over our area since last Sunday. We didn't see sunshine from Saturday afternoon until yesterday morning...my how we missed it! But we had no local flooding and our hearts go out to those who have...

Because of the weather, we weren't able to take Grandson (7 years old) until Thursday evening...at which point he was oh so ready to ride! Given that it was a school night, we couldn't find any friends to ride with him so guess who got elected? I gave it my best shot and actually survived a few rides I didn't think I would...something about age and going round and round...

This one was fun...even if it did make my hair stand up! Too bad you can't see it in action!

Everyone loves Bumper Cars...

This one was a killer...we both resolved to NEVER ride it again! Yikes...

We rode several others but ended the evening on one of our favorites...and it doesn't even require a motor...

I hope you have had (or will soon have) the opportunity to take in a local fair...there's just nothing like it. The smiles on grandson's face were priceless.

Texting Codes

"Texting" with teenagers (or maybe your own children)can prove to be difficult at best. First, they are speed demons when it comes to typing their conversation! In the time it takes me to decide to send a text and then decide what to say, they have probably exchanged ideas three or four times.

Don't even get me started on the "codes" they use...BFF (best friends forever); TTFN (ta ta for now), IMHO (in my humble opinion), BTW (by the way)...FWIW (for what it's worth) and those are just the ones I know...and there are hundreds of them. Needless to say, I have had to ask a Youth to translate!

Fortunately, someone has written codes for those of who are no longer considered young...it's a shame, but I can relate!

BFF: Best friend fell
BTW: Bring the wheelchair
BYOT: Bring your own teeth
FWIW: Forgot where I was
GHA: got heartburn again
IMHO: Is my hearing aid on?
LMDO: laughing my dentures out
ROFLACGU: rolling on floor laughing and can't get up

Well, you get the idea...

Fishing...

Just goes to show that fishing for a living is not all fun and games...or perhaps the occasional blooper is just pay back for having the opportunity to fish for a living. Either way, Bill Dance does seem to have more than his fair share...enjoy!

Growing Older...

This video is a little long, but well worth the time invested...especially if you need to add a little "mirth" to your day. Although I'm not nearly as old as Mary Maxwell, I'm much closer than I used to be...and unfortunately am beginning to notice a couple of the traits...
